Core Java Developer / Investment Bank / Market Rates / City

A key client of Huxley Associates based in the City of London - a major Investment Bank – are looking to recruit an expert Core Java Developer.

The right candidate will come from an OO background (Ideally C++) and have a minimum of 4 years Core Java Development experience.
Basic Requirements:

- Strong Knowledge and understanding of core Java (j2ee is NOT required).
- Excellent understanding of the data structures and algorithms
- Multithreading
- Memory management
- TCP/IP including UDP, multicast, broadcast, NIO etc.

The development team is an integral part of a high energy front-office environment. As a result, the successful candidate will need to be highly committed, and be able to build very close working relationships with both the business and support teams. They will have a strong focus on ownership and commitment to completing them in a timely way.

The use of any 3rd-party libraries or applications is severely limited, as he/she will be working directly with Java core API. He/she will be expected to be comfortable with low-level computing and networking concepts. A thorough understanding of computing algorithms and data-structures is essential. Excellent working experience of high performance systems (specifically low latency and high throughput issues, problems and solutions) is required.

Detailed Unix (Linux or Solaris) knowledge along with a strong understanding of networking is essential.

Strong communication skills are essential as well. The successful candidate should work closely and directly with the business as a partner. He/she should be able to take the requirements from the business, propose the solution and push back on the business if necessary.

Any FIX experience will be of great benefit.
