Huxley Associates Apprentice Day (Oct '08)

A group of young Londoners experienced life in the corporate world and a day of jobseeker coaching as part of the Huxley Associates ‘Apprentice Day’ recently.

The young people from the Westminster area were trained by Huxley employees on CV writing, interview techniques and more. Following the day the two that showed the most promise each won a week’s work experience at Huxley’s head office.

This fantastic initiative was organised in conjunction with ‘Connexions,’ an organisation that supports 13-19 year olds with advice on issues such education, careers and health. A representative from ‘Connexions’ said that this was the first time that a company had teamed up with them in this way and that the event would have an extremely positive impact on the lives of all the young people involved.

The coaching sessions and inspirational presentations from Huxley employees were delivered throughout the day and the two winners were chosen following final interviews with Huxley senior management. The event finished on a high in the office boardroom as the young people received glowing feedback for their efforts and were presented with certificates and music vouchers.

Jason Townsend, Huxley Senior Performance Coach, said: “It was a really great day, an event that has really done the name of Huxley Associates proud. We were really impressed with the effort from the young people involved and were pleased to be able to teach them some important skills that will benefit their future careers.”

Jason Royce, Connexions Communities Team Leader, added: “Seeing the way in which the young people developed as the day progressed was fantastic. I would like to thank all of the staff at Huxley Associates for giving their valuable time and resources, I know that this event will have an extremely positive impact on the lives of the young people involved.”
